Tonight at 10:58pm CDT Saturn leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius where it will spend the next two to three years! Just like when it was in Capricorn, Saturn is especially comfortable here as is it one of the two signs Saturn naturally rules. Even though it is comfortable in both signs, Saturn in Aquarius will be quite different than Saturn in Capricorn.
Sun Enters Aries
Tonight the Sun will leave Pisces and enter Aries at 10:50 pm CDT. Today, March 19th, is also the Spring Equinox, and International Astrology Day. Traditionally, Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and marks a sort of astrological new year. The Sun is “exalted” is Aries because it is in a good position to lead, and express itself. Aries, as a cardinal and fire sign, just wants to get things started. This is why there is a tendency with Aries to come off as impatient and restless. Aries have a reputation for being a little too much, but maybe the rest of us just resent how action-orientated and energetic they are.
Mercury Has Finally Turned Direct!
Last night, March 9th, Mercury ended it’s retrograde and returns to direct motion. From what I’ve heard from clients and friends this was an especially problematic Mercury retrograde, so we can all breathe a sigh of relief. We aren’t totally in the clear yet – Mercury is still in it’s “storm” which is when Mercury is technically direct, but is moving so slowly it still isn’t very helpful. Mark MARCH 19th in your calendars – that is when we get the official all clear and can finally start new projects.
Full Moon in Virgo
The Full Moon in Virgo will be exact March 9th at 12:47pm CST. The dichotomy between Virgo and Pisces, which are opposite each other, will be palpable during this Full Moon. The Sun, in Pisces, will be joined closely by Neptune, a planet which has a tendency to make matters less clear. The Virgo Full Moon doesn’t appreciate this because it values organization and clarity. So while it may seem like we are trying to get some orderliness in our lives, we keep losing our way.
The best way to understand this Full Moon is to look to Jupiter in Capricorn because both the Moon and Sun connect to it during the Full Moon.
Venus Enters Taurus
Sun Enters Pisces
Tonight, February 18th, the Sun will leave Aquarius at 10:57pm CST, and enter Pisces. As a water sign Pisces is sensitive and intuitive, but is also compassionate and generous because it’s planetary ruler is Jupiter. The last few months have brought a lot of Capricorn energy. Responsibilities and goals have been our focus lately, and it hasn’t been easy with Saturn and Pluto there. The Sun moving into Pisces is telling us that in order to accomplish things, sometimes we have to look past the surface.
Mars Enters Capricorn
Mars left Sagittarius and entered Capricorn today, February 16th at 5:33am CST and will stay here until March 30th. It may not seem obvious at first, but Mars likes being in Capricorn. Being in a Saturn ruled sign gives Mars purpose and structure. Mars now knows exactly where to channel all it’s energy, and is willing to go to great lengths to get what it wants.
Mercury Retrograde in Pisces
Today, Sunday, February 16th Mercury has officially started it’s retrograde motion! Mercury will retrograde through Pisces, and will continue to retrograde back into Aquarius as well. This may be an especially confusing retrograde because Mercury already gets easily confused and taken off track when in Pisces. Now add retrograde motion to that, and the confusion could easily skyrocket.
Full Moon in Leo
Later tonight there will be a Full Moon in Leo when the Moon is exactly opposite the Sun at 1:33am CST. This is an interesting placement for the Full Moon because the Sun is the natural ruler of Leo, so in this case the Moon is where the Sun wants to be. This Leo Moon, Aquarius Sun opposition will highlight issues around being in the spotlight versus giving the spotlight to others.
Venus Enters Aries
February 7th, Venus leaves Pisces and enters Aries at 2:02pm CST. This is a notable shift away from the dreamlike state we’ve been in while Venus was in Pisces. Aries is a Mars ruled, cardinal, fire sign, and technically, Venus is in detriment here. The reason is that Venus gets a little confused – it wants harmony, cooperation, and contentment, but Aries pushes Venus in a different direction. It’s more forceful than it’s used to, and it’s more brazen than it would like to be.
Mercury Enters Pisces
Today, February 3rd, Mercury entered Pisces! Mercury will spend an extended amount of time here because it will retrograde back into Aquarius before returning to Pisces. Yes, that means we have another Mercury retrograde on the way, starting February 16th and going until March 9th (I will have a separate post about this coming soon), needless to say avoid starting any important projects for a while. Mercury doesn’t exactly feel comfortable in Pisces. That’s because Mercury wants to be logical and methodical, and when it’s in Pisces that’s hard to do because Pisces gets confused easily, and relies more on intuition. This means it may be harder to articulate your ideas and thoughts, but that doesn't necessarily mean you don’t know what you’re doing.
Sun Enters Aquarius
On Monday, January 20th, the Sun will enter Aquarius at 9:55am EST. This is the second planet in a week to leave Capricorn, yay! I told you nothing in astrology lasts forever! This won’t be warm and fuzzy energy, as Saturn also rules Aquarius, but we will feel less restrained, and ready to see things with a new perspective.
Mercury Enters Aquarius
Today at 1:31pm EST Mercury leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius. It’s nice to have one less planet in Capricorn, and this should be the start of a new way of perceiving the world. Although, since Saturn, Aquarius’s ruler is still in Capricorn, there is definitely a serious vibe still going on. While we were consumed with practical, grounded thoughts and ideas when Mercury was in Capricorn, we can expect to now shift towards experimental, innovative, and higher level ones now that Mercury is in Aquarius.
Venus Enters Pisces!
Today Venus leaves Aquarius and enters Pisces at 1:31pm EST. With so many planets in Capricorn, it will be nice to have Venus in a water sign, but we shouldn’t get too excited. Pisces, as a sign, is ruled by Jupiter, and guess where Jupiter is right now? Capricorn! So this isn’t the drastic change some of us might be hoping for, but is still a welcome shift.
Saturn and Pluto Meet
Today at 11:59am EST, Saturn and Pluto will occupy the same degree in Capricorn. This is a rare event that only occurs every 33-38 years, and the last time the two planets joined up in Capricorn was in 1518! If you don’t recall, that was around the time Martin Luther published his “95 Theses.” Just like back then, this is a time when we are questioning the power structures around us.
Uranus Stations Direct!
Lunar Eclipse & Full Moon in Cancer
We will be experiencing a Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon in Cancer at exactly 2:21pm EST. As always, avoid beginning anything important today because eclipses carry volatile energy. This Full Moon closely opposes Mercury, Saturn, and Pluto during the eclipse, so we may end up feeling overwhelmed, or insignificant during this time.
Mars Entered Sagittarius!
Sun Enters Capricorn
On December 21st at 11:19pm EST the Sun leaves Sagittarius and enters Capricorn. It’s time to shift from adventurous, enthusiastic energy of Sagittarius and get down to some serious business. Normally I would say, get ready to set goals and methodically work at reaching them, but this Capricorn season is different.
Jupiter Enters Capricorn
Jupiter left it’s home sign of Sagittarius and entered Capricorn where it will stay until December 2020. To be honest, Jupiter doesn’t exactly love being in Capricorn. Capricorn loves structure and staying inside the lines, while Jupiter wants to expand and indulge. So while Jupiter is here we can learn how to grow within our limits, have fun without going overboard, and create concrete plans around our goals.
